Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is planning a diplomatic tour to the Persian Gulf on July 23-24 in order to enhance the dialogue within the framework of the Qatar diplomatic crisis settlement.

Erdoğan is planning to visit Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as Kuwait, which is serving as a mediator in the conflict.

Turkey is a key ally of Qatar, which has been diplomatically and economically isolated by its Gulf neighbours over allegations it supports terrorism.

In June, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt broke off diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and interfering in their internal affairs. Though Kuwait, the four Arab states handed over an ultimatum containing 13 demands to Doha. The list included requests to sever relations with Iran, close Turkey’s military base on Qatar's territory and shut down Al Jazeera TV channel, as well as the end support for the Muslim Brotherhood. Doha has refused to comply with the demands.
