Communist Party of Turkey reacts to government's sham fight against child abuse

The Communist Party of Turkey said "We remind once again: Child abuses and molestations cannot be prevented without unveiling their relation to the ever increasing reactionism in the last fifteen years. This rule that constantly attacks the women and children cannot prevent molestations. Reactionism cannot create social value!"

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) reacted to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's recent statements regarding the AKP government's planned regulations that would cover up the real base of child molestation.

Noting that the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had recently stated that his AKP party plans to equate adultery with child abuse through a new law against child abuse, TKP's statement said: "AKP is trying to cover up a shame with another, reactionism with reactionism."

"The cases of child molestations increased sevenfold in the past 10 years. One out of every four molestation case includes a child. Hundreds of children are being sent to the Institution of Forensic Medicine for being abused. On top of all that, pregnant children recorded at hospitals are not reported to the police", said the statement. The statement also reminded that these children were traumatized further through investigations while the bureaucrats of AKP have no sense of shame.

Reminding that although the criminal record of the AKP rule is quite long, "AKP can only think about authorising the Imams for performing civil marriages, supplying government funds to foundations like Ensar, which has countless cases of child molestation" said the statement.

Noting that around 60 percent of the perpetrators are released for good conduct like wearing suits and performing prayers, the statement of TKP underlined that the sensational statements of Erdoğan and his party, like the punishment of perpetrators by chemical castration, aim to save the day.

Reminding that the real aim of the AKP government is to intensify the Islamist oppression, TKP said the rule of Erdoğan is the architect of the social decomposition. "The rule of Erdoğan cannot be absolved by increasing punishment rather than eliminating the causes of abuses and molestations", added the statement.

"We remind once again: Child abuses and molestations cannot be prevented without unveiling their relation to the ever increasing reactionism in the last fifteen years. This rule that constantly attacks the women and children cannot prevent molestations. Reactionism cannot create social value!",said the statement.

The statement ended with a firm assertion that the TKP will not let the criminal record of this rule to be closed.
