Turkish president's name to be given to new campus of Marmara University

The authorities will give the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s name to the new campus of Marmara University to be established in Istanbul’s Maltepe

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who previously founded a university with his own name, will now give his name to the new campus to be built for Marmara University in Istanbul.

As the construction works started at Marmara University located in Maltepe, municipal brigades went to the construction site and raised the nameplate today.

It has attracted notice that "Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Külliyesi [Islamic-Ottoman social complex] 1st Stage Construction Zone" on the nameplate raised.

The region where "Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Külliyesi" will be built was the landed property of the Turkish Armed Forces.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF ERDOĞAN'S DIPLOMA 

Erdogan's official biography states that he graduated from Marmara University's Economic and Commercial Sciences Faculty in 1981. The fact that the faculty was established in 1982.

It should be noted that possessing a university diploma is one of the eligibility requirements for serving as a President of Turkey.
