Turkey dropped the file against Israeli soldiers on October 20, who attacked the Gaza-bound aid ship, Mavi Marmara, killing 10 Turks, due to the agreement Turkish AKP government reached with Tel Aviv.

The Office of Chief Public Prosecutor in İstanbul ruled non-prosecution about the last remaining file of attacker Israeli soldiers whose identities could not be determined. A Turkish court had dropped before the case of four Israeli senior commanders after the agreement.

Ten Turkish pro-Palestinian activists were killed by Israeli commandos on 31 May 2010. In June 2016 however, the two countries decided to normalise relations - a rapprochement driven by the prospect of lucrative Mediterranean gas deals. As part of the deal, Israel made a formal apology for the attack, and paid Turkey $20 million in compensation. The legal cases opened on the Mavi Marmara attack was dismissed as a result of the agreement.
