The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) organized several March 8 events at various local district houses and Nazım Hikmet Cultural Centers in three big cities, İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir. These events underlined that mostly women were subject to the destructive impact of wars, immigration, poverty, unemployment, patriarchy, reactionism, use of cheap labor, all of which were caused by capitalism. These events further called women to get organized against the hypocrisy of bosses who celebrate the International Working Women's Day (IWWD) while exploiting and dominating women.

The Communist Women of TKP has launched an aid campaign for the refugees. On 8th March, Senem Doruk, TKP Central Committee member, declared that the IWWD is the day of working women who do not accept exploitation and domination of capitalism and resist against it. After the reading of the news release, a committee left Istanbul to bring the aid collected from the Marmara region to the refugees in Edirne.

TKP’s weekly Boyun Eğme (Do Not Surrender) celebrated the IWWD with a headline ‘Women will be liberated through socialism’ and gave platform to various articles on women's labor and equality between men and women in socialism. The weekly included interviews regarding women workers' resistance at the Simo textile and the Çelik embroidery in Izmir. It also included a discussion on the right to abortion.
