Following the last-minute decision by Turkey's electoral board to deem unstamped ballots as valid votes, the police attacked protesters in front of board’s centre in Ankara.

A statement on the High Electoral Board's (YSK) website said it would count ballots that had not been stamped by its officials as valid unless they could be proved fraudulent. Following this controversial decision, a group gathered in front of YSK centre and chanted slogans against the electoral board.

The police set up barricades to prevent possible protests and tried to move people away from the centre. At least two riot control vehicles with water cannons also arrived near YSK centre. As the tension rised, the police attacked the protestors.
