Syrian parliament condemns the Turkish invasion of the Idlib province and considers Ankara's move as a threat to the safety of country's nationals, Hammoudeh Sabbagh, the speaker of the Syrian legislative body, said Sunday.

"The Turkish army has invaded the Syrian territory in the province of Idlib and has encroached on our state's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Syrian parliament condemns the Turkish invasion that is not related to the agreement reached in Astana," Sabbagh said.

The politician added that the parliament also considered Ankara's activities in Idlib as the threat posed to the security of the Syrian nationals and as a violation of the international law.

"We consider this attack an invasion of our territory, a threat to the security of our citizens. We consider this to be a violation of the norms of international law. This shows the close relationship between the Turkish regime and the terrorist groups that are destroying Syria, sheds the blood of the Syrian people and contributes to the destabilization of the situation in Syria," Sabbagh said.
