Radio and Television High Council (RTÜK) airs the advertisement prepared for the Naqshbandi Symposium as a public service ad for free.

With an outrageous decision, the RTÜK clears the way for airing the advertisements of sects as public service ads on TV. With the positive votes of members of AKP and MHP (The Nationalist Movement Party), and with a justification such as “the public interest”, the Council accepted the ad to be aired for free as a public service ad, which was prepared for the Naqshbandi Symposium organized by Aziz Mahmud Hüdai Foundation.

According to Cumhuriyet, Aziz Mahmud Hüdai Foundation applied to the RTÜK for the ad to be aired as a public service ad. The application was taken into consideration quickly, and was sent to the higher council’s approval.

The examinations revealed that the foundation had not sent any spot films in 2016. During the discussions before the voting, the idea that “it will raise awareness in public opinion, and there is public interest in its recommendation to broadcasting corporations” was advocated. Having brought up in the agenda of the higher council, the demand was accepted with the votes of approval by the members of AKP and MHP, against the votes of refusal of the members of CHP and HDP.

It is also reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mehmet Görmez, the Director of Religious Affairs, will be expected to deliver opening speeches at the Symposium, which will be held between December 2-4.
