There is a similar situation worldwide, especially in Europe, where rising cases lead to reclosures.”

At the press conference, it was highlighted that Turkey and especially İstanbul experienced the peak of the pandemic in April, later decrease in June, but with the “normalization” period number of the Covid cases rose again.

The statement continued as follows:

“In October, the outbreak entered the second peak period of the first wave. While the increase in the number of cases continues all around the country, there is a much faster increase in İstanbul, and if this increase cannot be stopped, İstanbul will face a complete disaster. Istanbul has the characteristics that the increase in the number of cases will occur at a much more dramatic scale due to the large population and the high population density. In Istanbul, where busy working life continues, hard days await both healthcare professionals and our people with the start of the winter season and the increase in air pollution.”
