Islamic State suspect claims he holds meeting with former minister

According to the police records prepared for a suspect, Mehmet Kadir Cabael, an Islamic State (IS) suspect claimed that the Mayor of Gaziantep called him to meet and discuss Kobani. Cabael is the suspect of the October 10, 2015, bombing attack in the main train station in Ankara that killed 101 and of the bombing in a wedding ceremony in Gaziantep on August 20, 2016, that killed 51.

According to the records, an Islamic State suspect, Bahaa Alden Najeep claimed that Fatma Şahin called him to meet in 2014. Şahin had been AKP’s Minister of Family and Social Policies between 2011-2013, ruling party lawmaker from 2002 to 2011.

The Turkish city of Gaziantep, bordering Syria is also known to be housing jihadist group members.

The records show that while claiming that he is not a member of ISIS and trying to prove that he has no links with the bombing attack, Najeep gave the example that he has links with the Turkish government. He claimed that Şahin called him to meet after the Kobani demonstrations and said that “she called me to discuss the problems of the Syrian people and Kobani demonstrations.
