Süleyman Soylu, Turkey's Minister of Interior, noted that the economic growth rate of Turkey justifies the state of emergency is advantageous for Turkey, in a speech he gave on April 1.

Soylu said "We are serving at the Ministry of Interior. We deal with all kinds of issues regarding our country. State of emergency in Turkey was declared right after 15 July coup attempt. Turkey's economic growth is 7,4. What kind of a state of emergency it is, then? I don't understand people who say 'the state of emergency should be terminated.' Have we finished our fight against the FETÖ [Fethullahist Terror Organisation]? Their confessions and court cases are still going on. We are still fighting against FETÖ in the public sector and our security forces."

On 15 July 2016, the network of US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, referred to as the FETÖ by Ankara, attempted to topple down Turkish President Recep Erdoğan by a military coup but it failed. Turkish AKP government declared a state of emergency for the first time on July 20, 2016, following the coup attempt.

But since July 20 the state of emergency declared to restructure the state or to ‘cleanse’ the member of Gülen's network, is not marked by the purge in Turkish army or the jurisdiction, but it was marked by the opportunities offered to the bourgeoisie.

The number of the regulations which have been passed since then for the interest of the bourgeoisie, is equal to the regulations passed this last decade.

Soylu addressed to the employers in his speech and asked them t to continue their support of the state of emergency. He said "FETÖ was extorting money from you. It purchased the shares of your companies, and even some part of them. You surrendered to them. They had been forcing you to supply for their universities. They had been threatening and blackmailing you through jurisdiction and security forces." Adding that the EU demands the termination of the state of emergency and imposes pressure on the employers for that, Soylu said that the EU wants this to mess with the internal affairs of Turkey.

On March 28, AKP government extended the state of emergency 7th time. During a speech Erdoğan gave in July 2017, he said: "We do declare the state of emergency to allow the businesses work smoothly".
