A Turkish citizen has been detained on July 30 for wearing a "part time hero" T-shirt, which is considered to be a sign of supporting the failed coup in July 2016, in northwestern Turkey.

The person wearing the t-shirt turned out to be a university student who came to work in a village in the Lapseki county of the province. Following the instruction of the Lapseki Public Prosecution’s Office, the person wearing the t-shirt has been taken into custody for an inquiry.

Until recently, only those wearing black on white “hero” T-shirts, like that of Gökhan Güçlü, who is alleged to assassinate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the coup night, have been being taken into custody. Now, the scope of t-shirts has been widened such that wearing a t-shirt with the word "hero" has become a reason to be detained in Turkey.
