Turkish government ordered hospitals to provide hijab for child patients

In the official letter sent to İzmir Dr Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital in İzmir, a western Anatolian province, it was requested that the children who use hijab will be also ensured the use of hijab during surgery and treatment. In the letter, it was stated that "the patient should be provided with a surgical apron extending to the length of the wrist and ankle, and a hair restraint covering the head and neck."

In the same official letter, it was also said in brackets that "it was seen that girls aged 10 and older may use hijab."

In another article of the letter, it was requested that "the patient’s use of hijab should be ensured during surgery and treatment".

It was learned that the given official letter was sent to all hospitals in the region by the İzmir Province Southern Region Union of Public Hospitals General Secretariat.
