Another propaganda tool and pressure of the AKP government is used on a secondary school’s students in Ordu. The students are forced to go to the mosque under the name of “mosques are blooming” project.

The project, according to the document sent to families, is about organising events in nearby mosques and “aims to make the students families with mosques, help students on their religious education, help them recognise national solidarity and brotherhood which are important in religion”.

According to the families, these documents that families need to sign for permitting their children to attend the events are actually used for blacklisting.

“WE ARE AGAINST AKP’S RELIGIOUS ASSAULTS”

One of the parents stated that “the AKP considers the mosques as places to make propaganda for the coming referendum. We are against the compulsory religion classes, but we couldn’t request an exemption from the classes because we think this would affect our child’s social life adversely”.

“We are against AKP’s blooming mosques project, its religious assaults, and its attempt to bury secularism underground”, he added.
