Okan Ataer from soL news commented that these Covid-19 days we have been passing through has thrown off war industry producers’ mask.

Turkish bourgeoisie, planning to be a regional imperialist power during the AKP rule, has been benefiting from the rise of state purchase-guaranteed defense projects.

The bosses of the industry are pleased with arms export to neighboring countries alongside open or clandestine military operations in Syria and Libya.

Although the global disease crisis comes right on top of this period.,enormous amounts of profits acquired or planned to be acquired in this industry were not affected. Referred as flagships of the Turkish defense industry, especially TAI, ASELSAN and ROKETSAN maintain usual production in these circumstances.

Their profit motive ranks above lives of their workers. Every day, thousands of workers get on shuttle busses to work in these factories where pompous language of “Stay Home” is of no use.

Okan Ataer notes that the word “defense” the capitalist classes have harped on refers to war, saying “It refers to the bombing of laboring peoples in neighboring countries for the sake of employers’ profits to increase. It refers to waging war for plundering natural sources of other countries.”
