TKP welcomes new 'volunteers for socialism' in Istanbul and Ankara

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) held general meetings in Ankara and Istanbul, welcoming the new 'volunteers of socialism' joining TKP and evaluating the current political situation in the country after the redo Istanbul elections

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) Istanbul provincial organization held on Friday a general meeting with new party members and friends of TKP. 

In his opening speech on behalf of the Istanbul provincial organization TKP Central Council member Aydemir Güler said the party was experiencing a difficult struggle but this struggle had future gains.

Stating that TKP was struggling in a period of political fluctuations with a revolutionary stance, Güler stressed that an increasing number of members have joined the party in the last period.

After a video show demonstrating TKP's activities and struggles during March 31 elections and the May Day, TKP Secretary General Kemal Okuyan made a speech.
"A party that runs only on its own agenda is not a revolutionary party," Okuyan said.

He also noted that the period between the two recent elections was not lost time, on the contrary, it was a productive period for the party and this would be understood clearly in the following period.

Referring to the stance of TKP in the redo Istanbul elections, Okuyan said: "we cannot allow something that is at the expense of socialism to be sold as something that is for the benefit of freedom and democracy." He also added that the party should get stronger by getting organized in order to create a more effective struggle against the war threat of imperialism and economic crisis.

"WELCOME TO THE WORKING PEOPLE'S PARTY"

TKP Ankara also organized a welcome event on Saturday, June 30 to greet the new party members and to meet with the friends of TKP.

"The working people's front gets stronger, TKP gets stronger. We welcome you to the party of the working people and the party of those who do not surrender,” Devrim Koçak said, in his opening speech, on behalf of TKP Ankara provincial organization.

Following Koçak, TKP Central Committee member Erhan Nalçacı made a speech. Nalçacı emphasized that the most special of the activities organized by the party were the ones that allow the party to welcome the new members.
