Turkey's communists salute the 20th anniversary of PAME and its struggles with a statement. PAME, the All-Workers Militant Front, is a coordination center within the Greek trade union movement, founded on the initiative of Communist Party of Greece (KKE) trade unionists in April 1999.

PAME was founded on April 3rd, 1999, through the 1st National Meeting (Congress), held in Athens, with the participation of 230 trade unions, 18 National Federations and Regional Trade Union Centers and 2.500 elected union representatives.

The full statement written by the Labor Centre of TKP is as follows:

Since it was founded in 1999 in Greece, PAME has been leading the struggle to create a focal point that defends class interests among the workers' movement. While putting up a steadfast fight to protect the fundamental achievements of the working class against the neoliberal assaults committed by a continuous series of governments, PAME has also been constantly denouncing and challenging unionism commanded by governments and the capitalists.

Another fact demonstrated clearly by PAME’s two decades of experience to the international workers' movement is that the fight to protect and improve the achievements of the working class can only succeed when it is waged on a political basis and with political content.

It is obvious that the main problems faced by the working class cannot be considered independently from the current crisis of world capitalism and the aggressive tendencies of the imperialist system. In this respect, the European Union and NATO have been fulfilling complementary functions and acting as the perpetrators of all kinds of destructive policies.

In many countries of the world, PAME has been playing a dominant role in the creation of an anti-capitalist front in solidarity with unions and working-class organizations that fight against imperialism and its bloody instruments. Against the corruptive impact of trade union confederations and federations under the control of imperialist forces on the workers' movement, PAME has been cementing a different, class-oriented union movement pursuant to the role it plays within the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).

We consider the uncompromising struggle carried on by PAME for many years very important and we share its goals. As the Labor Center of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), our efforts also aim to strengthen the working-class struggle by creating a similar line of struggle in accordance with the needs of the working class in Turkey.

On the occasion of the 20thanniversary of PAME’s struggles, the Labor Center of the TKP congratulates and declares its comradely solidarity with PAME once again.

Long live PAME!

Long live class solidarity!
