Communist independent candidate from "This Order Must Change Platform" Salih Çam visited a factory on May 30 in the city of Bursa to act in solidarity with the Cargill workers who had been sacked for membership to a trade union. The workers have been in resistance for 43 days in front of their factory.

Visiting the 14 workers who were dismissed because they had joined the organizational meetings of the Union of Tobacco, Alcoholic Beverage, Food and Related Industry Workers of Turkey (Tek Gıda-İş), communist candidate Çam said:

“I am delighted to be with the working class, which is the most important stage of my electoral work and our propaganda to change this social order. Being here, and seeing the strength and resoluteness of your struggle give me strength. Your struggle is the most beautiful form of organizing which is the most important tool of socialist candidates like us... Despite all the obstacles, socialists will shout out the voice and the struggle of the working class on June 24. Your struggle is our struggle. There is no salvation to us without changing this order.”

Members of the Platform had a productive conversation with the resisting workers about the conditions of the working class in Turkey, the history of struggle and the June 24 elections.

"This Social Order Must Change Platform" launched electoral meetings with independent communist candidates in many cities following the call of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).

The independent candidates will participate in the parliamentary voting in 17 electoral districts, the country’s most populated and industrial provinces. Candidates continue to visit workers and unions all over the country through the electoral campaigns of the Platform.
