Istanbul governor's office bans criticizing Turkey's operation in Syria

Governorate of Istanbul prohibited criticizing Idlib operation and declared saying “No to war” a crime.

With the decision announced, the Governorate of Istanbul announced that meetings, demonstrations, and press statements to be held for purposes such as criticizing the military operation carried out in Syria, saying "No to War" and asking to end operations are banned for ten days.

Stating that the decision was taken in order to "ensure peace and security", the Governorate said "it is deemed that meetings, demonstrations, press statements, petitions, booth activities, handouts, leaflets under the name “No to war” leading unrest among society, harming national, humane and moral values and threatening social peace could cause oral or physical provocation-intended incidents among the citizens."
