A group of 20 attacked women university students who opened a stand for March 8 on Bilgi University’s campus. 1 student injured and 6 were detained. 

A solidarity stand for March 8 on Bilgi University’s campus was attacked by a reactionary group of 20 chanting of "Allahu akbar" (God is Greatest).

According to the witnesses, the group jumped over turnstiles in order to reach to the stand opened by women university students and one of them was masked and carrying a knife.

The students claimed that the people attacked were chanting "Allahu akbar". They also claimed that security staff remained incapable of preventing the students.

The police detained 6 from the group and it is informed that these people are university students in İstanbul Ticaret University and Haliç University.

PUBLIC STATEMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION

The administrative unit of Bilgi University made a public statement about the event. Explaining how the events were evolved, the statement added that the university has turned to the prosecution to complain against the attackers. According to the statement, students of Bilgi University who were among the reactionary group are under disciplinary proceeding.
