The Enlightenment Movement Against Reaction calls for struggle against cults and religious congregations after the fire that leads to death of 15 children.
Before the fire in a “dormitory” belongs to Süleymancılar, an islamic cult (tarikat) that leads to death of 15 children in Adana, Statement from The Enlightenment Movement Against Reaction released a press statement calling nation to struggle against all religious cults and congregations.
In statement it said that all those institutions are illegal and “Capitalists that want to continue their domination and sweating system yield biggest gain from this situation”
After the tragic event this call comes into prominence. Below is the statement:
“EXISTENCE OF THE CULTS AND CONGREGATIONS IS A CRIME"
Ninety one years ago, law that closes islamic lodges(tekke) and zawiyah came into force.
Law dated 30th November 1925 islamic lodges(tekke) and zawiyah are closed,obtaining titles such as sheikh, dervish, disciple etc. and practising its duties and wearing outfits according to those missions are banned.
To pave the way to advanced, free and enlightened thought, while taking out of those nonsense and superstitions among society from the minds is a must. Secular regulations of the Republic on subjects as to turn human beings from the servant to citizen, to provide the requirements of a modern, free, scientific and secular life are the nonignorably important.
And nor standpoint is fell behind. Cults and religious congregations are still continue their existence illegally although their hives such as lodges and zawiyah are closed. Political power also organize itself from this cults and religious congregations. With those structures it is yielded important economic gains, opens areas within the administrative mechanism, and let education, health and law enforcement to be captured by those. Concentric existence of the political power with those cults and religious congregations also transforms life to this direction. Religionize the education, business life, media and cultural spectrum, move off from the science and reason, and intended society to drag into a dark mangle.Capitalists that want to continue their domination and sweating system yield biggest gain from this situation. In every period of crisis religion bringing into the forefront, and with the advantage of taking the important positions, people are leading to fatalism, silence and obedience.
With this, it is aimed to continue of this corrupt and rancid order.
In a secular republic, religion and religious rules can have no space in public and political life! State can not be run with religious rules! Woman and children can not be harassed behind the excuse of religious sensitiveness!
Existence of the cults and religious congregations is crime according to laws and constitution. Political power also taking part in this crime with making room for those cults and religious congregations by neglecting principles of a secular republic, and the ones who are trying to create a “de facto” situation by not acting according to laws as well.
Abolition of all cults and religious cults is the just and humane thing to do.
