Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has recently launched a campaign ‘Child labour is illegal, must be prohibited’ in the light of the recently published ‘the Declaration of Labourers’.

TKP, in its declaration which was distributed in İstanbul Güngören-Çeşme area where the child labour specifically exists in the manufacturing sector, mentioned that “Neither children nor the parents are guilty, it is the system which exploits labourers from youngest to oldest, forcing them to hope for a little amount of money. Guilty is the regressive, looter bosses, and the politicians that are in close engagement with them; who are united in order to revive the cracking system”.

In the declaration it is also announced “Our struggle is against the ones who force our children to believe they have no right to live, making them desperate and choiceless”. In addition, the declaration called people to the struggle against the prominent encouragements of the government members about having ‘at least three children’.

“THE ONES ALLOWING THE CHILD LABOR MUST BE PUNISHED”

There are also several demands voiced in the declaration:

It is a crime against humanity to ignore child labour, the guilty ones must be punished.

The children must be send to schools, properly fed, and maintained healthy.

Unemployed parents must be employed.
