A joint statement has been signed by the communist parties in South America, highlighting the decisive role of Cuban Health workers in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.

As reported by Radio Mayabeque, the communist parties stated that the Covid-19 pandemic reveals the deficiencies in the health systems of most of the region, which are in control of the big monopoly capital. "It essential to guarantee the rights of workers, unemployed and underemployed of the poorest social strata, as a human and solidarity gesture," the parties said.

The signatories also demanded the immediate cessation of the blockade and other unilateral coercive measures against Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

“We fight for profound transformations that will come from the hand of the workers' union. We position ourselves responsibly and with a sense of humanity," the statement said.

Signed by the communist parties of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, the statement concluded: "We are present in the fight to take immediate measures to protect health and safeguard the rights of all peoples in all corners of the planet!"
