Bursa metropolitan municipality representing the AKP has announced that they will start designating separate subway cars for women. While the women-only subway cars and buses have been on the agenda for a while in İstanbul, the first announcement of putting the plan into practice came from Bursa municipality. It is reported that it will be practised in 40 more stations.

Main opposition party CHP’s Bursa MP, Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu, reacted to the regulation by posting a video on social media saying “We are not going to allow this”. Kayişoğlu stated that it is well-known that the problems of the women could not be solved with this kind of mentality. “We know that this is a step, and we know that this is an example. We know that you are going to try to spread it everywhere and we are not going to allow this”, she added.
