What does Iran question denote?

In his article, Erhan Nalçacı notes that the desperately aggressive policies of the US should be evaluated through the regress of the US imperialism and its weakening power to subsume its traditional allies within the imperialist system

Erhan Nalçacı, soL news columnist and central committee member of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), reviewed the motivations of the US to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal.

What does Iran question denote?

The decision of the US to unilaterally withdraw from the deal signed with Iran that controls Iranian nuclear energy program, and to impose sanctions thoroughly increased international tension.

It is not easy to know whether this crisis may turn into a war in the near future, but this article will discuss the effects of Iran crisis the US intentionally generated on the imperialist system.

The hegemony of the US within the imperialist system during the post-Second World War period was not only based on its industry, economic supremacy and military power, but also on the long-term protection the US provided to monopolies of various national origins. They were able to protect themselves from working class revolts through this power, limit the international influence of the USSR, and maintain high profit rates throughout the capitalist world by means of the intervention power of the US.

This hegemony kept serving to the interests of all monopolies following the dissolution of the USSR through a counter-revolution. Germany and other imperialist countries of Europe shared Yugoslavia under the leadership of the US, and former socialist countries were subsumed in the social order by means of this hegemony.

Now, the US seems to be rapidly getting fall short of representing the long-term profits of international monopolies.

The agreement signed in 2015 among Iran and the permanent members of the UN security council, that are the US, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China, and Germany had been broken only by the US. Other five countries declared to abide by the agreement.

In fact, German imperialism voiced its long-sought pursuit through Merkel following the US's cancellation of the agreement: "We cannot expect the security of Europe from the US from now on. European Union needs to build its own military power."

Merkel does not mean the security of the European working class by saying the security of Europe, of course. She talks about a military power that will protect European monopolies from working class revolts in Europe, and that will force the peoples of other countries to subdue to the European monopolies.

No one should think that Germany, France and the United Kingdom abides by the agreement just because they are principled or because they know Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program. We know very well how deceitful, immoral and wicked they can be as in the case of the latest attack on Syria. They desperately wanted the lift of embargo imposed on Iran since 2006, because Iran is a grand and wasted market for them. The commercial relations of Iran with the EU corporations increased extensively after 2015 compared to previous years.

After all, the US is not able to subsume its traditional allies within the imperialist system and to protect the interests of the imperialist system as a whole.

Then, why Iran matters so much for the US? Why did the US compel Israel, a much worse country than itself, to prepare a sham report on the nuclear weapons development program of Iran? Why did the US so hastily started to impose a unilateral economic blockade on Iran?

The US is neither depended on Middle East oil since the oil it produces by new techniques is sufficient for them, nor Middle East is an indispensable market for the US. These seemingly uncontrolled policies cannot either be explained by the abnormal personality of Trump.

On the contrary, the US imperialism really regresses and its short-sighted policies results from desperation.

The Middle East as a whole is the biggest oil exporter of the world, and this capacity equals to a grand trade volume. Iran alone sells 2,5 million barrels of oil a day.

It seems that Iran, in addition to its alliance with Russia and China, is the country that tends most to conduct this export without using the US Dollar. Ruble, Yuan, Euro... They announced quite recently that they will use Euro instead of US Dollar in international payments.

The US faces its downfall most in the case of regression of US Dollar as an instrument of hegemony and its relegation.

That's probably why the US hates Iran so much in addition to various other reasons, and yet it gets lonely as it attacks.

However, we shall also note an "accomplishment" of the US. Trump really accomplished a difficult task in the Middle East by weaving an alliance web including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

On the other hand, these countries are the most archaic ones of the previous century. Israel is a racist country that does not hesitate to kill several Palestinian young people through the hands of snipers, and others are kingdoms and Emirates as their names suggest.

This century will most probably witness these countries listed in this "accomplishment" fade out in the stage of history along with the US.
