American nationals should avoid U.S. diplomatic facilities after several groups announced they would demonstrate there on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement.

"Turkey: several groups have announced protests in the vicinity of U.S. government diplomatic offices starting Dec. 6," the State Department said via Twitter. "Avoid all protests, especially those near US embassy and U.S. consulates."

The U.S. diplomatic facilities will continue to operate under normal operations unless otherwise specified, the State Department said.

The United States officially recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will start the process of relocating the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, US President Donald Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.
