The then-district chief constable of Suruç is fined an amount of 7,500 TL ($ 2,030) to be paid by 12 instalments.

The case was the only lawsuit filed about the Suruç massacre that happened 18 months ago. Mehmet Yapalıal, the then-district chief constable of Suruç, is the only defendant of the lawsuit. He was charged with negligence and misconduct and is fined an amount of 7,500 TL ($ 2,030) to be paid by 12 instalments.

Suruç massacre happened in July 20, 2015 in Suruç, a district of the southern city of Şanlıurfa. There had been a suicide bomb explosion amidst a group of young students gathered for the start of a campaign for Kobane. The students were the members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) planning to travel to Kobane to help with the rebuilding activities there and to present some gift toys for the children of Kobane. 33 people were killed that day. It had been revealed that the massacre was linked to ISIS and no necessary precautions were taken despite some intelligence about the attack.
