US officials said to not comment over Turkey’s referendum until OSCE’s report

The US State Department stated that they will not comment over the results of Turkey’s presidential referendum on April 16 until the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)’s report has been completed.

The US State Department announced that they followed up the results of Turkey’s presidential amendment referendum, but will not comment over the referendum until the results are verified and the OSCE’s report and relevant findings have been completed.

In a brief statement sent by the US State Department Spokesperson via e-mail to Voanews correspondent, it is reported that "We are, of course, following the referendum voting outcome in Turkey. We will refrain from commenting until the results have been confirmed and OSCE has reported on its initial findings."

According to data from state-run Anadolu news agency, the result of the referendum for the constitutional amendment of the 18-articled package was ‘yes’. 51.20% of the electorates said ‘yes’, while the proportion of the electorates saying ‘no’ remained at 48.80%.
