U.S. delegation is due to arrive in Ankara on Monday for talks aimed at resolving a spat that resulted in the two countries suspending the issuance of travel visas to the other's citizens., a Turkish Foreign Ministry official said.

The U.S. mission will be led by Jonathan Cohen, deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian affairs at the State Department, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The sides will meet on Tuesday, the Turkish official said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

The breakdown followed the Oct. 6 arrest of Metin Topuz, a Turkish employee at the U.S. consulate in İstanbul, on suspicion of ties to the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization, said to have orchestrated last year’s attempted coup in Turkey.

The U.S. halted most visa services for Turkish citizens at U.S. missions. Turkey retaliated by halting visa services in the U.S. for Americans.
