Reminding the extradition of two coup plotter generals to Turkey by the UAE, the official to Foreign Affairs of UAE Abdulla Sultan Al-Nuaimi said, ‘‘we are expecting the same sensitivity from Turkey regarding the terrorists attacking us, and Mr Hakan Fidan (Turkey's National Intelligence Agency chief) knows very well who these terrorists are’’.

Speaking to a local newspaper of Turkey in Dubai, the senior UAE officials stated that they do not feel ‘‘disturbed’’ from the Turkish military base in Qatar, and requested for extradition of 9 citizens due to their alleged affiliations with Muslim Brotherhood, insisting on that Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) is as dangerous as Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), the prime-suspect of the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016 in Turkey.

In the article, it is also stated that the UAE officials emphasise that they are in favour of the development of the relations with Turkey in all aspects, but the Muslim Brotherhood is as dangerous as FETÖ for them; so Turkey should scrutinise its stance regarding the Muslim Brotherhood.

Saying that UAE wills to get rid of terrorist organisations such as the Muslim Brotherhood, Senior Official to Foreign Affairs of UAE Abdulla Sultan Al-Nuaimi said: ‘‘There are nine terrorists who are our citizens and currently living in Turkey; we want their extradition. We had interned and extradited two FETÖ member generals, who came to Afghanistan and tried to transit from Dubai to Turkey immediately after the July 15 coup attempt. We are expecting the same sensitivity from Turkey regarding the terrorists attacking us, and Mr Hakan Fidan (Turkey's National Intelligence Agency chief) knows very well who these terrorists are’’.

The Foreign Affairs Minister of UAE had said that ‘‘Qatar's diplomatic isolation could last years’’ last year and warned Turkey to be ‘wise’ in the Qatar crisis, stating that Turkey is trying to establish a balance between its ideological enthusiasm and national interests.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Ash-Shinqiti, an academic from Qatar University, had claimed that FETÖ had made 22 visits to the UAE with top government officials prior to the coup attempt in Turkey last year and received $3 billion in support from the UAE.
