Two workers died in two days

After the death of 44 workers during the first 7 days of 2017, occupational murders are continuing in Turkey

An occupational murder took place at a construction site in the southern city of Antalya on January 11, 2017. 40-year-old worker Hasan Eslek was working for locating a concrete plate via a folding boom crane. Just then the 15-meter-long main part of the boom was broken, worker Eslek remained under the weighty boom. Other workers failed in rescuing their workmate Eslek.

Medical equip, firemen and police officers confirmed that Eslek lost his life at the scene of accident. After the examination of a crime scene investigation team, the body of Eslek was sent to the forensic medicine institution for autopsy.

Another incident took place on January 10, 2017 in the western city of Manisa. 38-year-old worker Sedat Akça died at a brick plant. During the workday, the wire that was used for drying bricks at the plant ruptured, and heavily injured worker Akça. However, worker Sedat Akça could not be saved despite all medical efforts and died.  

According to the Occupational Health and Safety Council (ISIG) 44 workers lost their life during the first 7 days of 2017.
