A young teacher working at a child workshop in Turkish capital city of Ankara told soL News that s/he was was fired on February 27 for humming the lyrics of famous Italian partisan song Bella Ciao.
"How dare you hum this in presence of children, we are a conservative institution," the workshop administrator warned and fired the teacher.
The young teacher, a graduate from a Turkish Language and Literature university department, started working as a playmaker at a child workshop in Ankara a week ago.
"I previously heard you humming this hymn, how dare you croon this in presence of children, we are a conservative institution, we cannot work with you anymore," the reactionary workshop administrator said and dismissed the teacher.
Originated during World War II, Bella Ciao is a world-famous Italian anti-fascist partisan song which is also very popular among revolutionary groups and communists in Turkey.
