Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the tombs of the Ottoman Sultan Selim I, well-known with his persecution of Alevis, and Mehmet the Second after the referendum in Turkey held on April 16.

Here are the scenes:

After he had visited the tomb of Sultan Selim I, this time Erdoğan visited the tomb of another Ottoman Sultan, Mehmet the Second, and read the Koran here.

Erdoğan’s visits raised a question mark in minds regarding "he thinks himself as the sultan".

During the Ottoman Sultan Selim I’s reign between 1512-1520, it was ordered to issue a fatwa against the Alevis for once and for all to justify and legitimise the killing of them, and allegedly 40,000 Alevis (‘Qizilbashes’ with the term in Ottoman period) were massacred in Anatolia.
