Ankara hopes that relations between Turkey and the United States shadowed by an ongoing visa row go back to normal in the near future, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Wednesday.

"What we desire is that relations between the two allies will return to normal soon. As Turkey, we will not give away common sense at a time when regional and global tensions are escalating," Yıldırım said.

Turkey hopes the United States will lift its decision on suspending visa services soon, the spokesman for the ruling AKP also said on Wednesday.

Speaking at an interview with broadcaster A Haber, Mahir Ünal said Ankara hopes the escalating dispute between the two countries will not impact military operations. Turkey was holding talks at the foreign ministry level to resolve the U.S. visa crisis, he also said.
