The Turkish parliament on Monday approved a 90-day extension of the state of emergency for the fourth time since it was first introduced after the failed coup attempt in July 2016.

The state of emergency allows the government to rule by decrees. It includes the granting of greater powers to security forces in detentions and arrests.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday said it was "out of the question" under current circumstances to the lift the state of emergency imposed after a failed coup. He also said that the state of emergency in Turkey is for capitalists' benefit.
