An assaulter, who attacked a 21-year-old woman for wearing shorts in June, has been released by the court. The attacker has been received the prison sentence for three years and four months, but he has been released for good behaviour. The attacker was also released just after the police questioned him after the incident.

The woman, Melisa Sağlam, was attacked in a minibus in Turkey's İstanbul for 'putting on shorts in the holy month Ramadan'. The attacker was claimed to say 'B.tch, shame on you to be dressed like this' and punched the woman, according to her mother.

The young woman reacted after the event claiming that other passengers supported the attacker. "I put on my earphone at that moment. I did not want to hear them," she said.
