Turkish cartoonist Nuri Kurtcebe was arrested and jailed on June 4 for allegedly insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The court sentenced the 69-year-old artist for over 14 months in prison over his pictures of Erdogan drawn in 2015, Kurtcebe’s lawyer Ahmet Erdem Akyüz said.

Kurtcebe appealed the decision, but the court rejected the motion, according to the lawyer.
