Turkish ambassador to Israel Kemal Ökem commented on Turkey’s relationship with Israel, by saying “we can go beyond the relationship we had 6 years ago”, as the “danger of terrorism rises”.
Ökem said for both countries common interest is “security” and military cooperation will be restored between Turkey and Israel “when the time comes”.
“Security and intelligence” is the backbone of talks between both countries according to Turkish ambassador, he also agreed with Israeli position by saying “in this region, threat to Israel and Turkey comes not from sea but from land. If you see a Hezbollah, ISIS flag beyond Golan Heights, that is the threat. So Israeli and Turkish viewpoint to the region, the steps they will take is important for regional security”.
Turkish ambassador also reminded that NATO has a “partnership with Israel” and “military exercises including Israel can happen”.
It is known that both Turkish and Israeli governments are against Syrian government and they see Syrian ally Hezbollah as a challenge in Syria.
Ökem also commented on the importance of trade and energy partnership between Turkey and Israel.
