National flagship carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) spends million dollars for an advertising campaign after fired hundred workers and forcibly imposing not to raise salary on employees in 2017, citing economic crises. THY announced Thursday that Oscar award-winning American actor Morgan Freeman will be its new face to represent the brand in the U.S.

A commercial featuring Freeman will be aired during the final match of National Football League (NFL), Super Bowl, on February 5. The shooting for the commercial started on January 20 in Los Angeles.

While how much Freeman earned for the advertisement is unknown, it is noted that the 30 seconds of the advertising in the Super Bowl organization at least costs $5 million.

On January 29, 2016, Turkish Airlines announced its partnership with Warner Bros to sponsor the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The airline made sponsorship and promotion deals with renowned athletes and actors, including Lionel Messi, Kobe Bryant, Caroline Wozniacki, Kevin Costner, Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba. THY also signed contracts as an official carrier by several European football clubs such as FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Olympique de Marseille, Aston Villa, FK Sarajevo, Hannover 96, and A.S. Roma.
