New information regarding weapons distributed by the police forces during the clashes of the July 15 coup attempt continues to be revealed.

Board member of the ruling (AKP) Düzce Youth Section Mehmet Aybek has shared a photo on social media with an MP-5 submachine gun with a threatening message to the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP)’s march to demonstrate against the 25-year prison sentence of an opposition lawmaker.

In his threatening message, it was written that "Tell us to ‘shoot’, we shoot; tell us to ‘die’, we die. The squares are not vacant Reis (Chief, referring Erdoğan), just your command is enough".

An armed attacker Mustafa Maraş had previously killed the tractor driver with an MP-5 submachine gun in a dispute in Ankara last week. Maraş had given a statement that the gun was distributed in front of Ankara Police Station during the clashes of July 15 coup attempt.

Turkish President Erdoğan’s Principal Consultant, Şeref Malkoç, had publicly said that the government would take steps to remove the obstacles that prevent the citizens from purchasing guns, saying "the people should be provided with gun licences to practice their right to self-defence against coup attempters.

It has been claimed that the civilians had been armed with guns by the pro-government security forces to fight against the putschists during the clashes of the coup attempt.
