Turkey detains Interpol-sought Belgian IS suspect

Turkish police in Istanbul have apprehended a suspected Islamic State group militant wanted by Interpol

Turkish police detained Mehdi A., a Belgian citizen, during a recent anti-terror raid in Istanbul on suspicion of having links to the Islamic State terrorist group.

The Turkish Anadolu news agency reported citing own police sources that the country's law enforcement agencies detained the man during the anti-IS raid in Istanbul's Fatih district on Thursday.

According to the media outlet, the detained person, who had previously been to Syria and allegedly joined the ranks of the jihadists, was plotting a bomb attack.
