The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) salutes the resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba, voted and overwhelmingly supported in the United Nations General Assembly on November 1, 2017.

The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday adopted a resolution calling for an end to the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba. The 193-member General Assembly passed the resolution with 191 votes in favour. Israel, as it has done in the past, voted in line with the U.S., its top ally. The non-binding resolution urges the U.S. to repeal the embargo on Cuba as soon as possible.

TKP sent a solidarity message to Communist Party of Cuba following the victory of Havana in the U.N. General Assembly.

"The brilliant victory of Cuba in the U.N. General Assembly is a monumental demonstration of the fact that the great humanity, incarnated in the resistance and struggle of the Cuban people, will never surrender to imperialism. Taking a conscious and determined attitude in the last voting, as she did in each and every moment of the Revolution, Cuba represented the dignity, conscience and hope of the humanity in a world ensanguined by imperialism," TKP said in the latter.

"Imperialism will be defeated and this genocide policy, lasting more than half a century, will surely come to an end. The Communist Party of Turkey stands with the Cuban Revolution, which has never given up the will to construct an egalitarian, free and luminous life for its people even under the gravest siege, and declares that it will continue to be in solidarity with the Cuban people until the blockade is definitely eliminated.

Down with the blockade! Long live socialist Cuba!" TKP said.
