Workers from Tüpraş İzmit, Aliağa, Kırıkkale and Batman refineries joined on Friday the press release in front of Koç Holding's Nakkaştepe center.

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has released a statement on the resistance of Turkey's biggest oil refinery company TÜPRAŞ workers. Communist Party of Turkey, has released a statement concerning the resistance initiated yesterday by TÜPRAŞ workers against violations of their rights.

Supporting the righteous struggle of the workers, TKP said "The resistance that started at four refineries of TÜPRAŞ is the response to the intentions and dirty projects of the capitalists in our country. Turkey will be a better place with the struggles of the workers independent from the dirty plans of capitalists".

The full statement is as follows:

The resistance of 4 thousand 300 TÜPRAŞ workers in Izmit, Aliağa, Batman and Kırıkkale refineries to defend their rights against the impositions of the employer continues with a full determination of the workers.

Koç Group, the owner of TÜPRAŞ which was privatized in 2005, wants to turn the crisis into an opportunity as it does in other workplaces and to cut the worker's gains and reduce costs in the collective bargaining process. The country's largest industrial corporation TÜPRAŞ is now trying to earn more by breaking the workers' organized power.

The capitalist class is preparing for a comprehensive offensive plan to take away the rights of the working people, starting from the big industrial enterprises in the coming days. As one of the biggest capitalists, Koç Group is leading the attack.

These plans cannot and will not be realized!

The resistance that started at four refineries of TÜPRAŞ is the response to the intentions and dirty projects of the capitalists in our country. Turkey will be a better place with the struggles of the workers independent from the dirty plans of capitalists.

Communist Party of Turkey greets the workers of TÜPRAŞ who started a righteous and honorable struggle despite the strike ban. The TÜPRAŞ workers who do not surrender have already won against the bosses who think the country is their own farm.
