All of 67 students detained on October 10 during a commemoration held at the Islamic University's central Beyazıt campus, for 107 people who lost their lives on October 10, 2015, due to an Islamic State bomb attack in Turkish capital city of Ankara.

The attack on the "Labour, Democracy and Democracy" rally organised by Turkey’s trade unions and some political parties including the pro-Kurdish Democratic Peoples’ Party (HDP) has been the deadliest terror attack in the Turkey's history.

The lawyers of detained students said some students’ arms were broken during the violent attack by the police. Speaking to Sol News, families of some of the detained students said that their children did what all people should do and they would not get accustomed to the increasing police violence.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) had released a statement regarding the police violence and stated that the AKP government-led police violence on the students showed the complicity of the AKP to the IS attack.
