Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) on Sept. 11 sent a solidarity message to the Communist Party of Cuba and the people of Cuba for the devastation caused by the violent hurricane Irma that barreled through the Caribbean.

"Thanks to the measures taken by the Cuban state, which has meticulously watched the hurricane from the first moment of its appearance, more than one million Cubans were evacuated to safe places, and the exemplary discipline and solidarity of the Cuban people prevented increased life losses," TKP said in the written statement.

Irma, at one point the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the open Atlantic, has claimed the lives of dozens of people across the Caribbean and the southeastern United States.

During the three days in which the hurricane affected Cuba, thousands of buildings were destructed while agricultural lands and road, water, electricity, and communication networks were severely damaged.

"We have no doubt that the wounds inflicted by Irma, which experts rank as the most powerful hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean, will be relieved soon, thanks to the revolutionary leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the extraordinary resistance of the heroic Cuban people, the statement underlined.

"Nevertheless, we as the Communist Party of Turkey declare that we will mobilize all our resources to be in solidarity with the Cuban people in this difficult moment, and on this opportunity we once again repeat our firm call for the immediate elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States whose consequences reach far beyond the ravages of hurricanes," it declared.

"The humanity is stronger than hurricanes! Long live Socialist Cuba!"
