The reactionary organisation Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (İHH) had distributed toy guns and swords and praised jihad at a charity event held for children on March 2016. When soL news reported on the illegal and jihadist at this event, it was sued by İHH.

A court has rendered a verdict on the lawsuit heard at the İstanbul Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction on Oct. 12. The court decided to acquit soL news portal editor Ali Ufuk Arıkan and reporter Oğuzhan Aktaş as their offences according to İHH are not defined as criminal according to the law.

İHH is notorious for its ties with jihadist groups in the Middle East. This Turkish pro-government jihadist organization, infamous for its "humanitarian aid" to Syria and collaboration with the Turkish National Intelligence Service (MİT), was granted an 'honour award' by the Ha’yat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) – the Syrian faction of the jihadist terrorist organization Al-Qaida in İdlib, Syria.
