Turkey's capital Ankara was hit Saturday by a sudden flood, which was caused by heavy rainfall in the central Anatolian province.

Six people have so far been wounded in the flooding in Mamak, Ankara, and dozens of cars have been damaged while being pushed down the road by the force of the waters.

"Six people have been injured, but their health condition is not serious," Mustafa Tuna, Ankara mayor from ruling AKP party, said, also adding that "a natural disaster like never before happened."

Shops and basement floors of buildings were seen as left underwater in footage provided from the scene. Footage showed cars and trucks being swept away in the floods. One man escaped being submerged by climbing on top of a car caught in the flood. The man was reportedly later rescued and only slightly injured.
