'Shift of political balance to be expected after referendum'

soL news portal columnist and CC of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), Kemal Okuyan participated in a panel hosted by Nazim Hikmet Cultural Centre (NHKM), Ankara
Monday, 20 March 2017 06:52

The panel started with the question whether the escalating crisis in the world can lead to a revolutionary crisis. Okuyan highlighted that the world has been in a state of counter-revolution for a long time which "has been gradually dissolving and the people of the world will start to breach in that counter-revolutionary state."

As an answer to the question whether the communist movement around the world seems reluctant to undertake a revolutionary uprisal,  Okuyan reminded that the same was true prior to the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Okuyan added "Just a week before the First World War, German social democrats and French socialists had a joint demonstration in Paris, declaring they would never shed the blood of one another. And yet, they did the exact opposite a week later. The Bolsheviks, who had a relatively small and disorganised party back then, took the working class to power in three years. We have a historical consciousness and will never give into pessimism."

Okuyan was also asked how AKP government's decomposing assaults can be fought back. He commented that it had been the liberals who had consecrated decomposing values as the people's values. "The most sophisticated morals aims to overthrow the existing world order. We will try to spread this perspective among the people. The situation had been much worse in Russia prior to the revolution. We can sure achieve the same", Okuyan said.

REVOLUTIONARY POTENTIAL OF THE POST-REFERENDUM PHASE

Another topic of the panel was the upcoming presidential referendum in Turkey. Okuyan commented that the "no" front is being fabricated on hypocrisy by the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). The only consideration of CHP is to bamboozle the supporters of AKP government, Okuyan said. He added that the "no" votes should be increased on a principled basis so that the decomposition of the society can be undone.

Okuyan also highlighted that a shift of balance in the political arena should be expected after the referendum, creating some invaluable potential for a revolutionary uprisal. "The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) is on the brink of its second golden age", Okuyan said, adding that the real concentration of the party should be on the revolutionary potential of the post-referendum phase.
