The regulation for presidency system prepared by ruling AKP party and fascist party MHP is brought to the General Assembly of Parliament on Monday. Representatives made speeches in the name of all political parties in the Parliament and heated disputes emerged especially between AKP and major opposition party CHP.

The vote for start of the negotiations on the proposal for constitutional amendment is held on Monday night and concluded with acceptance. AKP and MHP have a total number of 353 MPs in the Parliament. The number of affirmative votes was 338.

The clauses of the proposal for constitution amendment will be voted individually. For each clause to be accepted, 330 votes are needed. After all clauses are voted, the constitutional amendment package will be voted as a whole and 330 affirmative votes will be required. If the package is accepted, President Erdoğan will bring the package to referandum.

DEBATES ON 330

CHP declared that they will say "no"; whereas AKP and MHP declared they will support the constitutional amendment. However, 7 MPs of MHP announced that they will also say "no" and this led to speculations that the number of affirmative votes from MHP deputies would diminish.

AKP is criticized by CHP deputies since deputies of AKP were forced to show their votes to other MPs of the party, although using open votes is against the law.
