Media reports about the Syrian government troops’ entry in Afrin district are "black propaganda", but "secret bargaining" on this issue cannot be ruled out, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Tuesday.

On Monday, the SANA news agency reported that the Syrian popular forces would arrive in Afrin in a few hours to support the Kurds against Turkish forces.

"It is quite clear that the reports on the agreement between the regime and the YPG are black propaganda. However, this does not mean that there cannot be any secret and dirty bargaining there", Kalın said.

Syrian government forces have yet to enter the Afrin region and it was unclear if they would, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu also said. He said on Monday morning that pro-government militia would enter Afrin "within hours" but by sunset there were no signs of a deployment there.
